the blood alcohol concentration(BAC)in the uk is 0.08%. A well known formula for calculating BAC percentage is widmarks formula
BAC%=5.14A/rW -0.015H
Where A is the total alcohol consumed in ounces, W is the body weight in pounds, r isthe alcohol distribution ration (0.73 for men, 0.66 for women) and H is the time passed in hours since drinking commenced.
A man has a BAC of 0.1%, he has consumed 4 pints of medium strength beer (4%abv) if he weighs 12.5 stone, how long ago did he begin drinking?

you have the formula, and you have the numbers. What's the trouble? (aside from converting stones to lbs)
hi because i put all the numbers in, and the answer didn't seem right, what im confused by is what i do with the 4% figure, if i even dod anything with it, im sure its not as easy as putting in all the numbers
Since the formula says BAC% = ... I'd say just set it up as
0.1 = (5.14)(4*16*.04) / (.73)(12.5*14) - 0.015H
H = 0.2 hours
0.1 = (5.14)(4*16*.04) / (.73)(12.5*14) - 0.015H
H = 0.2 hours
