The bias stated in the Article is "Her 1,470 passengers were taken off and put aboard other steamers in mid-ocean." It is bias, because White Star owns the fleet of ocean liners that they are reporting on to include the Titanic. They wanted the public to still believe the Titanic and the passengers were okay. I believe the reporters believed White Star Line was safe because even though they were getting distress signals from the Titanic, the White Star office in New York issued an official statement telling everyone that there is no way the Titanic could sink, no matter what kind of damage she had. The bias was dangerous to believe because who would send help if they thought the passengers were rescued and the Titanic was slowly drifting into port? It is important to be aware of bias today because you want to make sure you are getting accurate information and using verified sources. Most recently former President Trump spread untrue beliefs that the election was stolen. Many people who believed him are in jail today for committing crimes related to his disinformation.
