Being happy creates a lower heart rate and lowers blood pressure. Focusing more on the positive things going on in your life takes your blood pressure down a few notches. Happiness strengthens your immune system as well. Grumpy people tend to get sick more often than happy people. When you are happy, your immune response is better. Thus, it defends against foreign substances that can make you sick.
Being happy reduces aches and pains in the body. It can also combat disease and disability. Happiness also reduces stress and can help you live longer lives. Happy people are more inspired to exercise, which has numerous health benefits as well.
Everyone needs a good night’s sleep. Reports have shown that on days when participants felt happy, they experienced a better night’s sleep. It also improves digestion and boosts metabolism. Believe it or not, happiness prevents wrinkles, too. Naturally smiling lifts your facial muscles and can actually make people look three years younger. So, don’t worry, be happy. It’s good for you!
