The beaks of the finches pictured are all adapted to different types of food sources. Finches that eat mostly insects have thin, pointed beaks to help them catch their prey while finches that eat more seeds and nuts have shorter, thicker beaks. If the finch habitat was to experienced a decline in the insect population due to climate changes, which of the finches would be most affected?

Responses
A Finch 1
B Finch 2
C Finch 3
D Finch 4

Finch 1, with the thin, pointed beak adapted for catching insects, would be most affected by a decline in the insect population. Without as many insects to feed on, Finch 1 would have a harder time finding food.
