p = price of kerosene/liter
5 p/3 = price of diesel
5 p = price of petrol
x = liters of diesel purchased
cost of x liters of diesel = 5 x p/3 = 510
cost of x liters of kerosene = x p
but x p = (3/5)(510) = 306
The amount used to purchase one litre of petrol can be used to purchase three liters of diesel or five liters of kerosene. Out of a certain amount, $510 is spent on diesel.
How much is spent on kerosene if equal volumes of three liquids are purchased with the total amount.
