If you want to avoid fractions, you might want to look at my solution to your question when you first posted it

You could take my equation

9x - 8y = 110
8y = 9x - 110
divide by 8
y = (9/8)x - 110/8
y = (9/8)x - 55/4

and end up with the same equation that Declan had at the end

I much prefer my method to working with all those factions.
