Absolutely! Teachers have the right and the responsibility to limit students' rights.
Teachers need to keep students safe. Therefore, they limit the area in which students are allowed to be. One student I had disobeyed me and jumped down some stairs. She sprained her ankle.
Then there was an ADHD student on a field trip to a nearby major city. His medication had worn off and he threw a pop can from the window of the bus. The can hit a passing car, which almost resulted in a law suit against the school.
The only situation where a student's rights would overide the teacher's responsibility might involve the use of a cell phone to report a crime or major problem.
