Stan invested $13,000, part at 17% and part at 2%. If the total interest at the end of the year is $1,910, how much did he invest at 17%?
Let x = the 17% quantity and y = the 2% quantity. Then
.17x + .02y = 1910
Also, x + y = 13,000
I bet you can take it from here.
