Step 1: Create a Scenario and Characters

Your scene will involve teenagers at a party. Most of them have been drinking, and they want to leave and drive to another party. The one sober person in attendance is not in agreement with this decision and would rather stay at the current party. You can add any other characters you feel will enhance your message. Your script should help resolve the conflict in a healthy way.

Step 2: Write a Script
Your script should include dialogue between the characters that demonstrates the following:

Communication skills that demonstrate consideration and respect for self, family, and others
Communication skills that work to build and maintain healthy relationships
Ways to show disapproval of inconsiderate and disrespectful behavior
Ways to say no in a difficult situation
Strategies to manage and resolve conflicts without causing harm to anyone involved

Scenario: At a teenager's house party, where most of the guests have been drinking and want to drive to another party. The only sober person, named Sam, does not agree with this decision and would rather stay at the current party. Sam's best friend, Sarah, is trying to convince Sam to join them in leaving.

Characters:
- Sam (the sober person)
- Sarah (Sam's best friend)
- Chris (partygoer who wants to drive)
- Emma (partygoer who wants to drive)

Script:

Sarah: Hey Sam, come on, let's go to the other party. It's going to be even more fun there!

Sam: I'm not comfortable with that. You guys have been drinking, and it's not safe to drive under the influence.

Chris: Aw, come on, we'll be fine. We've done it before.

Emma: Yeah, don't be such a buzzkill, Sam. Live a little!

Sam: I understand you want to have fun, but driving while drunk is dangerous and irresponsible. I care about all of you too much to let you make that decision.

Sarah: But Sam, we'll be fine. We've all done it before and nothing bad happened.

Sam: Just because nothing bad happened in the past doesn't mean it won't in the future. I don't want to risk your lives or anyone else's on the road.

Chris: Fine, whatever. I'll just call a cab for us.

Emma: Yeah, I guess you're right, Sam. Let's just stay here and have a good time.

Sam: Thank you for understanding. I just want everyone to be safe and have a good time without putting themselves or others in danger.

Sarah: I'm sorry for pressuring you, Sam. Thanks for looking out for us.

Sam: No problem, that's what friends are for. Let's enjoy the rest of the party and make sure everyone gets home safely tonight. With a cab or designated driver, of course.

The group agrees to stay at the current party and have a great time without risking their safety by driving while intoxicated. They all have a good time and make sure to plan ahead for a safe ride home.
