Standard form.
(3.4 x 10^7) x (4.5 x 10^-4)

So far I got to 15.3 x 10^3.

Now... you want to leave only one number to the left of decimal point..

1.53 x 10^4

It goes to the 4th because I made the number smaller to get into standard form.. so I have to compensate with the exponent.

If you had something like...

.25 x 10^ 3

the answer would be 2.5 x 10^2
