Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw were glaring at each other "I don't know what I ever saw in you!" Squirrelflight yowled at Brambleclaw "I don't know why you're wailing like a kit!" Brambleclaw snarled Squirrelflight bit back an angry retort as Ashfur stroked his tail over her shoulder "I can see nothing will ever be the same between us. You clearly want to be full brothers with that mangy crow-food eater Hawkfrost instead of just being half brothers and I want no part of that." Squirrelflight practically choked out. Midnight the badger lumbered over "What happening" she said Squirrelflight was glaring at Brambleclaw then bounded over to Midnight and started explaining Brambleclaw just stared at her then he took a couple paces forward wanting to say sorry but once he got into earshot he just barely hear Squirrelflight say "and hes been a bossy furball ever since we came back and hes been hanging around with Hawkfrost and he is not to be trusted!"

Brambleclaw bristled at the mention of Hawkfrost, his claws digging into the earth beneath him. "You think I'm the one who's changed? You think I want anything to do with that traitor?" His voice was low and dangerous, the anger simmering just beneath the surface. "I thought we were on the same side, Squirrelflight. But all you do is accuse me, as if I'm the one who’s gone mad!"

Midnight shifted uneasily, sensing the tension rising, but neither of them seemed to notice her. The air crackled with unspoken words and accusations as Squirrelflight’s fur fluffed out, her green eyes glinting with fury.

“You’re not the same, Brambleclaw! I’ve seen it!” she spat. “You’ve been spending time with him, training with him, as if you want to learn his ways! Hawkfrost is a shadow who will drag you down into darkness, and you’re following him blindly!”

“You don't understand anything!” he shot back, his voice fierce and cutting. “I’ve been trying to protect our clan, protect you! You think I want to be close to Hawkfrost? I'm trying to learn about him so I can stop whatever he's planning!"

“Oh, so now you want to play the hero?” Squirrelflight scoffed, sarcasm dripping from her voice. “Do you really think this nonsense will have any effect? You’re only giving him more chances to sink his claws into our clan! Maybe you’ve always wanted to be like him!”

Brambleclaw's eyes widened in disbelief. “You don’t really mean that! I’ve fought for ThunderClan all my life. I’ve stood by your side, through every battle. And now you act like I’ve betrayed you just because I’m trying to do what’s right!”

“Standing by my side?” Squirrelflight echoed, her voice rising. “Then why do I feel so alone? You’re off playing big cat with Hawkfrost, while I’m left to deal with the fallout. You’ve made your choice! And if you think I’m going to trust you again just because you say you’re trying to protect me, you’re wrong!”

“Trust is earned! And you think it’s just so easy to throw away everything we’ve fought for? Just because of a silly misunderstanding?” Brambleclaw stepped closer, their faces inches apart. The flames of anger sparked between them.

Squirrelflight’s tail whipped around, fur bristling. “A misunderstanding? This isn’t about misunderstanding, Brambleclaw! This is about you believing that Hawkfrost is somehow on our side! He’s not. He’s poison! And you… you seem to be drinking it down like it’s the sweetest water!”

Brambleclaw shook his head, frustration boiling over. “You’re so stubborn! You see only what you want to see! What happened to the cat who trusted me? What happened to the cat who believed in me?” His voice cracked with emotion, grappling with the hurt in her words.

“And what about you? What happened to the Brambleclaw who would have never even considered letting Hawkfrost into our lives? He’s a danger, and I won’t stand by and watch you throw yourself into his paws!” Squirrelflight’s voice was fierce but now tinged with an undercurrent of desperation.

Midnight shifted once more, her instincts telling her to step in, but the fight seemed far too personal. It was as if their hearts were laid bare in the moonlight, ready to be ripped apart.

“You’re not listening!” Brambleclaw roared, frustration lacing every word. “You think I want to be friends with him? But I can’t ignore the truth anymore. I need to know what he’s planning. If you can’t see that, then maybe you have more faith in him than you do in me!”

Squirrelflight recoiled, her breath catching in her throat. “Faith?” she echoed, the word dripping from her tongue like venom. “I have faith in my clan, Brambleclaw. But if you think Hawkfrost is any part of that, then maybe you’ve already made your choice.”

“What do you want from me, Squirrelflight?” he exclaimed, his temper breaking. “Do you want me to abandon everything? To close my eyes to the danger and pretend it doesn't exist? I won’t do that! Not now, not ever!”

Squirrelflight’s eyes softened for a moment, but the resolve returned with a vengeance. “Then I can’t stay with you,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “If you’re going to choose him over me, then it’s over. I can’t follow you down a path I can't trust.”

Brambleclaw’s heart plummeted as the words hit him like a fierce blow. The realization sank in, chilling him to the bone. “You don’t mean that! Don’t walk away from me, Squirrelflight!”

But Squirrelflight turned on her heel, not glancing back as she darted away into the underbrush, leaving Brambleclaw standing there, anguish ripping through him like a storm. The reality of their rift hung between them like a thick fog, suffocating in its weight.
