Spermatogenesis in mammals involves a differentiation process within the testes. Stem cells, known as type AS spermatogonia, can either undergo self-renewal through mitosis or begin the process of spermatogenesis. These stem cells undergo three rounds of mitosis and cell differentiation to form type Al and Type B spermatogonia and then primary spermatocytes. Primary spermatocytes undergo two meiotic divisions to make secondary spermatocytes and then spermatids. Growth factors produced within the testes can direct the process of self-renewal or differentiation of type AS spermatogonia.
Given the cell culture experiments below, what is the BEST interpretation of the results? Select ALL that apply.

a
Either BMP8b or SCF acting alone can stimulate the proliferation and self-renewal of spermatogonia.

b
There is a synergistic effect on spermatogonia by using SCF and BMP8b.

c
There is a synergistic effect on spermatogonia by using GDNF and BMP8b.

d
GDNF causes the differentiation of spermatogonia into spermatids.

e
GDNF can stimulate the proliferation and self-renewal of spermatogonia.

f
Adding both BMP8b and SCF stimulates the differentiation of spermatogonia.
