3x-y=5

3x-y=5

x = 4 - 2y

3 (4 - 2y) - y = 5

12 - 6y - y = 5

-7y = -7

y = 1

x + 1 = 4

x = 3
where did you get x+1=4 from

3x - 1 = 5

3x = 6

x = 2
