x
_ - 3 = 5

7

I know you have to add three to each side, but after that im not sure what to do,, please help!

3 answers

x/7 = 8

Multiply both sides by 7.

x = 56
I don't understand how x/7 is 8 because how do you know what x is ???
(x/7) - 3 = 5

Add 3 to both sides.

x/7 = 8

Multiply both sides by 7.

(x/7) * 7 = 8 * 7
x = 56

Proof:

(56/7) - 3 = 5
8 - 3 = 5
