x = 1/2 - (1/4)y
Just noticed the square root part
Of what are you taking the square root ?
You will need to use brackets,

e.g.
√(3x + 2y) + 5x = 4
or ...
√(3x) + 2y + 5x = 4
or

can you see the problem if you don't use brackets ??
