(x-3)(x+1)+12>8
x^2-2x-3+4>0
(x-1)^2>0

which means that x can be any value except 1

(x-3)(x+1) + 12 > 8(x-2)
x^2-2x-3+12 > 8x-16
x^2-10x+25 > 0
(x-5)^2 > 0
