8x = 12
x = 12/8 = 3/2
Add 6x and 5 to both sides.

8x = 12

Divide both sides by 8.

x = 1.5
your answer is -3 but in fraction must be -3/1. take your time to calculate your like terms.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it looks like two DIFFERENT answers. Mykmoloko how'd you come up with the answer -3, I'm trying to understnad the way the methods work. Thanks M
drwls's and PsyDAG's answers are the same. They are math teachers/tutors. I'd trust their process and answers.
