Here is the problem

sqrt3-x=x-1
Is the left side of the equation
sqrt(3-x) or (sqrt3) - x?

If you meant
sqrt(3-x) = x-1, then, from squaring both sides,
3-x = x^2 -2x +1
x^2 -x -2 = 0
(x-2)(x+1) = 0
x = 2 or -1
The second value (-1) works if negative value of the square root are allowed.
The problem has no parenthases. it is as follows sqrt3-x=x-1. So do we put parenthases automatically around the (3-x)? Thanks!
