A high school athletic department bought 40 soccer uniforms at a cost of $3,000. After soccer season, they returned some of the uniforms but only received $40 per uniform. What was the difference between what they paid for each uniform and what they got for each return?

For the expression, I got 40(3,000) - x(40) Is this correct ? I used x as a variable but I forgotten about variables and I don't know how to solve them, so it would be nice to tell me how to solve as well. Thanks~!

You need to divide to find the cost per uniform.

(3,000 / 40) - 40x =
Sorry for late reply, I got $75 when I divided. I need to find the difference between what they paid for each uniform, which is $75, and what they got for return which is $40, so do I still need the variable ? tanks very much Ms. Sue
A commuter has 245 in his commuter savings account. This Account changes by 15 each week he buys a ticket. If the account changed by 240 for how many weeks of tickets did the commuter buy. If the commuter wants to buy 20 weeks of tickets how much must he add to his account
I got 16 because I did $240 divided by $15 and it is 16 you need to divide
