Technology Interview Portfolio Directions
How does technology change over the course of a person’s lifetime?
Think about the older people in your life—parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, coaches, and others. Imagine the changes in technology they have seen. For example, someone who is two generations older than you did not grow up with access to GPS navigation, vast social networks, or mobile access to movie tickets. Now, these things are readily available through free apps on smartphones.
Description
For this portfolio project, you will explore how technology has changed by interviewing two people and discussing how technology has changed in their lifetime. You will conduct research on the types of technology discussed. Then, you will present your findings as either a report or a PowerPoint presentation. You may choose another method of presenting your findings, but you must get approval from your teacher before you start.
Your final report or PowerPoint presentation will describe how an aspect of technology has changed in each person’s lifetime. These aspects of technology may be related to computers, the environment, medicine, or any other aspect of life. Your final product should be a blending of your two interviewees’ experiences and your research.
Your portfolio assignment has 3 steps:
Interview two people.
Research the technology discussed in the interviews
Write your report or PowerPoint presentation.
1 answer
Choose two people from different age groups to interview about how technology has changed in their lifetime. This could be a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, coach, or anyone else you know who has witnessed significant technological advancements. Ask them about the technology they grew up with, how they adapted to new technologies, and how they feel about technology today.
Step 2: Research the technology discussed in the interviews
After conducting the interviews, research the types of technology that were discussed. This could include advancements in communication, transportation, entertainment, healthcare, or any other aspect of technology that was brought up during the interviews. Make sure to gather information from credible sources to support your findings.
Step 3: Write your report or PowerPoint presentation
Based on your interviews and research, create a report or PowerPoint presentation that outlines the changes in technology over the lifetimes of your interviewees. Include information about the specific technologies that were discussed, how they have evolved over time, and the impact they have had on society. Be sure to incorporate quotes and anecdotes from your interviews to add a personal touch to your presentation.
Overall, this project will give you a deeper understanding of how technology has evolved over time and how it has shaped the world we live in today. It will also allow you to connect with older generations and gain insight into how technological advancements have impacted their lives. Good luck with your project!
