simplify 27^(-(2)/(3))

I know the answer is 1/9 but I don't understand how to solve it. I looked it up but I still don't understand. HELp!!

1 answer

The (-(2)/(3)) part is just (1/3)(-2)
so we can write it as

[ 27^(1/3) ]^-2 ----> 27^(1/3) is the cube root of 27 or 3
= 3^-2
= 1/3^2
= 1/9
