Similar figures are two or more geometric figures that have the same shape but may have different sizes. The sides of similar figures are proportional to each other, meaning that the ratios of the corresponding sides are equal. The angles between the corresponding sides of similar figures are also equal.

For example, two rectangles with different sizes can be similar if their corresponding sides are in proportion. The first rectangle could have sides of 4cm and 8cm, while the second rectangle could have sides of 8cm and 16cm. These two rectangles are similar, as the ratios of their corresponding side lengths are equal (i.e., 4/8 = 8/16 = 1/2). Another example of similar figures is two triangles that have the same shape but different sizes.
