Should Gorbachev be blamed for the current economic woes of Russia? Is a very important question asked today? Why? Because many wonder what would have happened if Gorbachev would have not turned Russia into perestroika, would Russia still be the same as it is today? Many people believe that Gorbachev should be blamed because his political initiatives were great for freedom and democracy, but they were not so great for the economy. It was so horrible that it brought Russia very close to disaster. On the other hand there are people who argue against it saying that Gorbachev was a victim of circumstances that without him Russia could have been worse off then it is today. Both of these positions can be true, but the best position is to blame Gorbachev for the current economic woes of Russia.

Should Gorbachev be blamed for the current economic woes of Russia? This is a very important question because many people wonder what would have happened if Gorbachev had not turned Russia into perestroika. Would Russia still be the same as it is today? Many people believe that Gorbachev should be blamed because his political initiatives were great for freedom and democracy, but they were not so great for the economy. It<~~what is "it"? was so horrible that it<~~what is "it"? brought Russia very close to disaster. On the other hand<~~add comma there are people who argue against it saying<~~delete "against it saying" that Gorbachev was a victim of circumstances and that without him Russia could have been worse off then<~~"than" - not "then" it<~~what is "it"? is today. Both of these positions can be true, but the better position is to blame Gorbachev for the current economic woes of Russia.

The vague use of "it" several times is confusing. Clarify, please. Work on writing only complete sentences, not fragments or run-ons. Be careful of word choice - there's a huge difference between "then" and "than."
