Shondra’s daughter is just over a year old and Shondra notices that while her daughter plays side-by-side with other children, she is not yet playing with other children. At what age can Shondra expect to see her daughter start to play with other children rather than just beside them?

Children typically begin to engage in more interactive play, known as "cooperative play", around the age of 2 to 3 years old. Before this age, it's common for children to engage in "parallel play," where they play alongside other children but do not directly interact or cooperate in their play activities. Since Shondra's daughter is just over a year old, it's normal for her to be primarily engaged in parallel play at this stage. Shondra can expect to see more interactive play develop as her daughter approaches the age of 2 and continues to grow.
