Shall I replace the word counter with section? For example, "sweets section, pasta section"? Could you please check these sentences?

1) When I go to the supermarket, I get a trolley or a plastic basket first and then I go to the meat and fish section(/to the deli section).
2) I get a ticket and wait for my turn. Finally, I go to the check-out counter. I usually pay cash but sometimes by credit card.
3) Last year I went to Noli, a seaside resort in Italy for my holiday. It was very funny! (I think it should be "it was fun!")
4) We did a lot of sports like swimming, running and beach volley.
5) Besides, (I don't think it is correct) we slept in a hotel and in the evening(s) we hung out. We enjoyed ourselves a lot and we visited a lot of interesting museums. It was a great experience.

I'd use "section" because in supermarkets, food and goods are arranged in sections of shelves or freezers or refrigerated cases, not specifically counters. Counters are included in specialty stores, such as the deli or the bakery or the meat market.
