sam travelled 1/4 of a journey by bus. he jogged 1/2 of the remaining distance and walked the rest of the way. If he walked 800 feet, what was the total distance he traveled?

let total distance be x
bus: x/4
jog : (1/2)(3x/4) = 3x/8
walk: 800

x/4 + 3x/8 + 800 = x
times 8
2x + 3x + 6400 = 8x
x = 6400

total distance = 6400 ft
