Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Strangers,
We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to support our dear father, relative and family ,Murphy . As many of you know, Murphy has been courageously battling COPD, GI, atrial fibrillation, leukocytosis, dysphagia, Peg Tube feeding as well as experiencing kidney failure shock. Within a month and a half, he had 5 emergency surgeries . In addition, another surgery was added which unfortunately led to a life-threatening infection. Despite the best efforts of his medical team, the infection has spread, and the difficult decision has been made to amputate his leg above the knee to save his life.
Murphy underwent surgery the morning of Monday, Jan 17, 2002.
After his life saving surgery, Murphy’s journey to recovery is far from over. He will need extensive medical care, physical therapy, and most importantly, a motorized wheelchair to regain his mobility and independence. This process is not only emotionally taxing but also financially burdensome.
