I believe signing the treaty is a positive move, but we’ve seen similar promises before. The government has a history of making commitments to Indigenous people and then breaking them. I think Métis people should have already been included in the health plan, and this treaty feels like a late response. Even though it’s delayed, at least it’s happening now and a promise is being kept. I really hope the Government and the Crown don’t have hidden motives like they have in the past, and that they genuinely want to make things right.
reword this
I think that the treaty being signed is a step in the right direction, but we have seen this before. The government has a past of promising Indigenous people things, and then crossing them. I think that Metis people should have already been apart of the health plan, and this treaty is delayed action. Although it's delayed, at least it is happening now and a promise is in motion. I hope that the Government and the Crown doesn't have an alterior motive like in the past, and they truely want to right their wrongs.
