Reflect:

I feel confident about remembering the differences between independent clauses, dependent clauses, and phrases because I have practiced identifying each in various sentences and have a clear understanding of how they function within a sentence.

One way to choose which sentence structure I should use when writing is to consider the relationships among ideas I want to convey. If I want to show a simple relationship, I would use a simple sentence. If I want to show a relationship with more complexity, I would choose a compound, complex, or compound-complex sentence.

If I am not sure how to place phrases and clauses correctly within a sentence, one strategy I can use is to read the sentence aloud and see if it sounds awkward or unclear. By doing this, I can identify if the phrase or clause needs to be moved or restructured for better clarity and flow.

Overall, I have learned a lot in this unit about sentence structure and how it can impact the relationships among ideas. By practicing and reviewing the various topics, I feel more confident in my ability to choose the appropriate structures in my writing to convey my ideas effectively.
