One piece of literature from this semester that I identified strongly with was "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. The theme of isolation and alienation resonated with me as I often feel disconnected from others in my own life. Holden Caulfield's struggle with finding genuine connections and feeling misunderstood by the society around him struck a chord with my own experiences. The passages where Holden expresses his desire to protect innocence and authenticity in a world he views as phony further solidified my connection to the themes of the novel. Overall, "The Catcher in the Rye" provided a voice for my own feelings of loneliness and disillusionment with the world.
