Introduction
In this activity, you’ll use the color palettes you developed in Lesson 2 and Activity 1 to create a logo for a new client. But before you continue any further, it’s time to choose one of the clients:
Flow Yoga Studio, who wants to convey the brand attributes of “connected to nature” and “calm and relaxing”
Sparky’s Cycling Gym, who wants to convey energy, strength, and power
Step 1: Create the Logo Following the brand attributes provided by the client, create a logo that uses the brand color palette. When you’re done, export your design in any format you choose and submit it. You can use any online graphics software that can export vector files such as Canva or Vecteezy, or a desktop vector program, such as Inkscape.

Step-by-Step Guide to Create a Logo for Flow Yoga Studio

Step 1: Choose the Right Software

For this project, you can use either online graphics software like Canva or Vecteezy, or a desktop vector program such as Inkscape. For this example, we will guide you through using Canva, but the steps can be adapted to any vector editing software.

Step 2: Define the Color Palette

Based on the brand attributes "connected to nature" and "calm and relaxing" for Flow Yoga Studio, consider using earthy tones and soft colors. For instance:

  • Greens (to represent nature)
  • Soft blues (to convey calmness)
  • Muted browns or tans (to suggest stability and warmth)

Step 3: Create a Logo Design

  1. Open Canva: Create an account or log in to your existing account.
  2. Create a New Design: Click on "Create a design" and select "Logo".
  3. Choose a Template: Browse through the available logo templates that resonate with the idea of yoga and nature, or start from scratch.
  4. Add Shapes and Icons:
    • Use icons like leaves, trees, or yoga poses which convey the connection to nature.
    • Search "yoga" in the elements tab for related icons.
    • Incorporate a circular shape to symbolize unity and calm.
  5. Add Text:
    • Select a calming font. Fonts like "Montserrat" or "Raleway" can fit well.
    • Write the studio name ("Flow Yoga Studio") and place it appropriately within or beside the logo.
    • Consider adding a tagline that sums up their mission, like "Connect with Nature" or "Find Your Calm".
  6. Apply the Color Palette:
    • Use the colors from your previously defined palette consistently across text and graphics.
    • Ensure good contrast for readability while maintaining a visually appealing aesthetic.

Step 4: Finalize Your Design

  • Review your logo and make any necessary adjustments to positioning, colors, and sizes.
  • Ensure that it conveys both the essence of yoga and a serene, natural atmosphere.

Step 5: Export Your Logo

  1. Click on the "Download" button at the top right of Canva.
  2. Choose the file type: for a vector file, select PDF or PNG. (If using a vector editing program, save as SVG).
  3. Ensure that you select any options that will preserve quality, like 'Transparent background' if needed.
  4. Download your design.

Step 6: Submit Your Work

  • Ensure that your logo file is named appropriately (e.g., Flow_Yoga_Studio_Logo).
  • Upload your design as instructed in your project guidelines.

Alternative Option: Sparky’s Cycling Gym Logo

If you opted for Sparky’s Cycling Gym instead, follow the same steps but focus on attributes of energy, strength, and power while choosing a color palette that includes bright and bold colors like reds, oranges, and blacks. Incorporate graphic elements like bicycles or muscular forms to emphasize the active lifestyle associated with cycling.

Good luck with your logo creation! Remember, the most effective logos embody the core values and personality of the brand they represent.
