Based on my test result, I am considered to have acute stress. Acute stress is a short-term stress response that can be caused by variety situations (Kivi). There are many stress factors that affect me to have an acute stress. For example, daily stressors such as having to drive to work during traffic hours and dealing with crowds at work. Work and school are my major stress factor currently.

According to Cleveland Clinic, “it can happen within a month of experiencing a traumatic event, like a natural disaster or assault. It’s closely related to post-traumatic stress disorder. The main treatment of acute stress is psychotherapy” (“Acute Stress Disorder”).

There are major events that may have caused me to have an acute stress such as having to move a lot due to work and my past trauma that I’ve faced while growing up. I manage my stress by trying to relax during my days off. I try to make up for the sleep I lost during workdays, practice meditation, attend therapy session, and exercise during my days off from work.

Hi Amy,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with acute stress. It’s insightful to see how everyday stressors, like traffic and work-related challenges, can accumulate and contribute to a heightened state of stress. I appreciate your honesty about the impact of past trauma and frequent relocations on your mental well-being.

It's great to hear that you have proactive strategies in place to manage your stress. Taking time to relax, prioritize sleep, practice meditation, and exercise are all effective ways to recharge and cope with stressors. Have you found any particular methods that work best for you in terms of relaxation or meditation?

I also think it's important to recognize that seeking therapy is a strong step towards understanding and managing stress. It's inspiring to see you prioritizing your mental health. Wishing you continued success in managing your acute stress!

Best,
