When it comes to the function of water in our body. It is a lubricating and cushions the eyes, mouth, nose. Joints and organs. Helping prevent constipation and maintain bowel movements. Regulating body temperature through perspiration.

Explain the importance of water?

Water is a major component of your body. Accounting for 50-60% of your total weight. Just about all of your bodies systems depend on water to function and survive.

Over-consuming water- water intoxication (Hyponatremia)

Definition- Hyponatremia is a condition that occurs when there is an imbalance of electrolytes in the body, specifically when sodium levels in the blood become to low due to excessive water intake. Symptoms- nausea and vomiting, headaches, confusion or altered mental state.

Consequences- if not addressed, hyponatremia can lead to swelling of the brain (cerebral edema), which is a medical emergency requiring immediate attention.
