South Central Academy took advantage of four errors by East Coast High to pull off a 12-4 victory in a battle of previously unbeaten teams Friday in Libertyville. Trailing 2-0 in the top of the second, the Bulls rallied for five runs after a two-out error by the Tigers. James Aaronson hit a single that drove two runners to put the Bulls up for good, and Todd Downey followed with an RBI double. “I was glad to see the bats finally start cracking,” Bulls coach Steve Robertson said. “We had been really struggling at the plate.” Jeff Bacon led the Bulls with a triple and a double, as the Bulls had a season-high 12 hits.
Tigers coach Bob Stanton said his players were disappointed with the loss. “They made rookie mistakes,” Stanton said, slamming his fists on a table. “We obviously have a lot of work to do.”
