Race Day
by Justin Blue
The heat rose from the track as the competitors lined up in their go-karts. Danielle was the one to beat, having won the last three races, but Kiki and Angus lined up behind her in row two and were just as hungry for a win. It had been hard the past few years for Danielle, who quickly rose up the ranks from a good rookie to the tried and true veteran in the racing league. Danielle had formed a friendship with Kiki, seeing as they were the only two women in the race league. Angus was the newest rookie and a tough competitor, but Danielle and Kiki enjoyed his silliness away from the track. When it came to race day, however, it was "every man for himself" among the three friends. Kiki revved her engine and Angus made his growl; they tried anything they could to get Danielle out of the zone so they could take the top spots on the podium this week. All three were so focused on one-upping each other before the start of the race, they almost missed the green flag. However, it wasn't long before they were neck and neck racing for the lead.
