This is why this version of the story was given a happy ending instead of the original ending of the novel. Due to this fact this could not be possible and as the critic noted it is nonsensical. The only purpose for this kind of ending was to give the audience a more satisfying resolution. The author of this novel wanted the readers to know the kind of cruelty that was faced during the Russian Revolution. He also wanted to show audience the kind of leadership
that was taken place at that time.
George Orwell wanted the readers to know the concept of Totalitarianism which is a dictatorial system in which one party controls all aspects of work, culture, and politics. If there was a happy ending to the novel then this concept wouldn't be fully understood by readers.It is stated by boxer that Napolean is always right. This shows that Napolean is the one who controls everything in the farm. Orwell also wanted the readers to know the bloodshed that was seen and witnessed during the historical event. For instance the original version of the 7 commandments that are seen in animal farm has been corrupted and changed around by Napolean. Nearly all the animals cannot read due to their limited abilities. There is no way for the animals to overthrow Napolean and find out about the corrupt commandments unless they can read english. It is also seen in the novel that most of the animals lack sorely in knowledge and have little commen sense. For instance Napolean expresses his contempt of Snowball's plans by urinating on them. This shows the lack of cleanliness which is a commen knowledge. This all leads up to the fact that a happy ending is nonsensical.
