On the other hand, asteroids and comets differ in their composition and behavior. Asteroids are primarily rocky or metallic objects found mainly in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, and they usually have a stable orbit around the sun without any significant tail. Comets, however, are composed mainly of ice and dust, originating from the outer solar system, and when they approach the sun, they develop bright tails due to the sublimation of their icy components. This difference in composition leads to distinct appearances and behaviors as they travel through the solar system.
