To compute the Total Fertility Rate (TFR), we sum up the number of births in each age group and divide by the total number of women in the age range 15-49.
Total number of births = 421 + 1340 + 3832 + 2252 + 1083 + 611 + 250 = 9,789
Total number of women in the age range 15-49 = 12,249 + 11,181 + 10,798 + 9,924 + 7,439 + 6,484 + 5,584 = 63,659
TFR = Total number of births / Total number of women in the age range 15-49 = 9,789 / 63,659 = 0.1535 or 15.35 births per 1,000 women
To compute the General Fertility Rate (GFR), we sum up the number of births in each age group and divide by the total number of women in the age range 15-44 (as typically fertility rates are reported for women aged 15-44).
Total number of women in the age range 15-44 = 12,249 + 11,181 + 10,798 + 9,924 + 7,439 + 6,484 = 57,075
GFR = Total number of births / Total number of women in the age range 15-44 = 9,789 / 57,075 = 0.1712 or 17.12 births per 1,000 women aged 15-44
To compute the sex ratio among the births of 2015, we sum up the number of girls born in each age group and divide by the total number of births.
Total number of girls born = 213 + 670 + 1916 + 1128 + 560 + 310 + 131 = 5,928
Sex ratio = Number of girls born / Total number of births = 5,928 / 9,789 = 0.6052 or 60.52 girls born per 100 boys
The small numbers at 15-19 and at 45-49 years can be attributed to various factors such as the lower likelihood of women in the 45-49 age group to give birth, as fertility decreases with age, and potentially lower fertility rates or lower population sizes in those age groups.
