Q. A soccer ball is kicked from the ground. When it reaches a height of 5.74 m, the velocity is v=5.86i+7.50j m/s.
a) Determine the maximum height that the ball reaches.
b) Determine the total horizontal distance travelled by the ball.
c) What is the speed of the soccer ball just before it hits the ground?
ok first of all i don't get this given velocity equation (v=5.86i+7.50j m/s).
why are there unit vectors i and j?
This is what i think:
y=vt-1/2at^2 = 5.74 m
Vy=Viy-gt = 7.50 m/s
therefore the velocity = 7.50 m/s when y = 5.74 m.
v = usin(theta)
therefore, y=7.5sin(theta)t-1/2at^2 = 5.74 m.
so from here i got (t). is this right?
and i have no idea how to get to the next step from here and i don't think what i did above is correct.
can someone give me some help please ??? i also need some help with b) and c).
Thank you.
