1. Did you apply the cosmetics on your face?
2. Did you wear the cosmetics on your face?
3. Did you put the cosmetics on your face?
(Are all correct and the same? Can we use 'lotion' instead of 'cosmetics?) •English - Writeacher, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 7:19am
All of them are correct, but 1 and 3 are most commonly used.
"Cosmetics" includes more than just lotion, so if you decide to use "lotion," remember that there are other things that can be applied, such as mascara, lipstick, rouge, etc.

4. I I applied cosmetics this morning.
5. I wore cosmetics this morning.
6. I put on cosmetics this morning.
(Can we use this way without
'the'?)
7. I I applied makeup this morning.
8. I wore makeup this morning.
9. I put on makeup this morning.
(Do we have to put 'the' before makeup?)

Sentences 4 - 9 are correct. And no, "the" should not be used before "cosmetics" or "makeup."
