How did the conflict occur?

Was it just because of the land? I'm having some trouble understanding. Please explain to me.

The conflict was about land. The Metis's homes and land were on Hudson's Bay Company property. The company turned over their land to the new Canadian government. The Metis didn't have official ownership of their land and were afraid of the Canadian government taking over their homes and land.

Thank you so so so much for the information Ms. Sue. I understand so much better when someone posts things in their own words on here, its a simpler version than of the sites. Thanks so much:)

That doesn't make sense. Why did the Hudson Bay Company turn their land to the new Canadian government? Who was the new Canadian government? And if they hadn't turned their land to the new Canadian government in the first place, then they wouldn't have to worry about that government taking over their homes and land.

The Canadian government wanted control of this land that was owned by HBC. Finally HBC sold the land to the Canadian government. The Metis lived on the HBC land.

I'm glad you're using a real name -- Anonymous/Emma. Have you also used Sara as a user name here?
I had read through your response again. And some bits of information just didn't make sense.

I'm using a library computer Emma is my real name. I don't know Sara?

Was the Canadian government forcing the HBC to give in for the land? Because the HBC didn't have to give the land to them.
As I understand it, the Canadian government pressured the HBC to sell this land.
Okay. Do you know if they were blackmailing them?
It wasn't blackmail. But I'm sure with the money the government offered for the land, the HBC decided it was in its best interests to sell the land.
Okay. I'm sort of getting it. Did the Canadian government have a name? Or was it just called "the canadian government"?
It was called the Canadian government or the government of Canada.
