The four factors that produce changes in population size are birth rate, death rate, immigration, and emigration.
The birth rate is figured by the amount of births per 1000 people per year. The death rate is the number of deaths per 1000 people per year. Immigration changes a population rate by adding more people to the population in that area. Emigration happens when people leave a population, which then decreases the size of the population in that area. The growth rate of a population is figured by the amount of births minus the amount of deaths.
The factor that is affecting the population size in the video is the birth rate. Since one nutria can have over 40 babies per year, and after the age of six months, the baby nutria can reproduce, these animals are having babies at a high rate, and they are becoming overpopulated.
After the land is depleted of the nutrias’ food resources, the nutria will have to relocate to a different area in order to survive. They will have to keep moving because every area they inhabit will end up the same way; they will eat all of the available food resource and will eventually run out.
