Please write me a dialogue between 4 South African learners arguing about who became the first black South African president

1 answer

Learner 1: Guys, I think it was Nelson Mandela who became the first black South African president.

Learner 2: No, it was Thabo Mbeki. He was the one who succeeded Mandela as president.

Learner 3: Actually, it was Jacob Zuma. He was the president after Mbeki.

Learner 4: You guys are all wrong. It was definitely Nelson Mandela. He was the first black president of South Africa.

Learner 1: But what about the years between Mandela and Mbeki? Who was the president then?

Learner 2: I think it was Kgalema Motlanthe. He was the acting president for a short period before Mbeki.

Learner 3: Oh right, I think you're right. It wasn't Zuma.

Learner 4: So, it seems like we all agree that Mandela was the first black South African president. Thank goodness we sorted that out.
