Since Kofi Annan is an MIT graduate, he is first in line :)
However there have been thousands of mediators on thousands of subjects over the years. Recently two Presidents of the US, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter have served as mediators getting agreements, albeit temporary, between parties in the Middle East.
