At this point in the story, I am really enjoying Island of the Blue Dolphins. The way Karana's character is developed is fascinating to me. I can feel her loneliness and resilience as she is left alone on the island after her people leave. The descriptions of the island and the wildlife are vivid and make me feel like I am right there with Karana. The challenges she faces, such as finding food, building shelter, and dealing with wild animals, keep me engaged in the storyline. Overall, I am really liking the book so far because of the strong character development and descriptive writing.
