Please I am desperate need of help for this symbol.

What does the long square root sign mean? Like in √5 + 8 +24 = √37
The square root sign is supposed to go above 5, 8 and 24. What does that mean? Like find the square root of each number? Or…please I need help :(

No long lines online, but you can use parentheses:

√(5 + 8 +24) = √37

since 5+8+24=37
I know it's √37 but like does the square root sign mean add the square root of 5, 8, and 24?
no, clearly it does not. The long bar over the sum means to evaluate everything under the bar, and then take the root of the result. Think of the long bar as a set of parentheses, as I showed above.
So I think I got it! So it means add 5, 8, and 24 and then find the square root of the sum which is 37. So find the √37! Is that right?
Yes, you have it :)
Thank You Damon :)
You are welcome.
