Please help me solve this

Find the value of k so that the polynomial

Q(x)= x^3 - k^2x^2 + k(5x-9)- 12

has a remainder of 1 when divided by x + 2

1 answer

If you studied the remainder theorem then you know that
Q(-2) = 1

-8 - 4k^2 + k(-19) - 12 = 1

arrange as a standard quadratic and solve for k
