In an essay discuss the way in which Naomi Shihab Nye treats loneliness in "The Rider" What does loneliness mean to the speaker? How does bicycling help her leave her loneliness behind? Cite passages from the poem to support your points.

My answer:

Loneliness; sadness because one has no friends or company. As she, Naomi, was cycling down the road, she recalled what a boy said about skating fast enough to leave your loneliness behind. She wondered if this could also be done by cycling, she found out that this method works. As she pedaled on, she realized he was happy.

I need help putting this in essay form. I don't understand what other information I should be adding to this. Can someone help me?

The Rider
A boy told me
if he roller-skated fast enough
his loneliness couldn’t catch up to him,

the best reason I ever heard
for trying to be a champion.

What I wonder tonight
pedaling hard down King William Street
is if it translates to bicycles.

A victory! To leave your loneliness
panting behind you on some street corner
while you float free into a cloud of sudden azaleas,
pink petals that have never felt loneliness,
no matter how slowly they fell.
—Naomi Shihab Nye
