a) The most commonly used graphs are linear, power, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and sinusoidal. Yours is none of these types.

b) whenever you see a function described as
y(x) = ...
the function name (dependent variable) is outside the parentheses -- read y of x is
the independent variable is inside the parens.
