First list the numbers.

44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51

Then add the digits:

44 = 4 + 4
45 = 4 + 5

and so on.

Which of the numbers has digits that add up to 8?
so it is 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 49,50, 51

Now adding the digits, I see one where the sum is 8

So it must be 44.
